What We Believe Print E-mail

The Oak Ridge United Methodist Church centers its mission and ministry in the "three greats" of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave two great commandments and the great commission. The first great commandment is that we love God with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. The second great commandment is that we love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). The third "great" is the great commission in which Jesus calls us to share the good news and make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).

At Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, we are intentional about growing in our love for God through worship, Bible study, a variety of music, Sunday School, sharing groups, and many other programs that lead us to a better understanding of God and our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

We seek to grow in our love for others through a variety of fellowship opportunities and activities within the Church and we are also actively involved in showing our love for others through participation in local, national, and global mission projects.

We seek to reach out to others following the model of Jesus Christ himself. We reach out, not in judgment, but in love and grace. We seek to offer unconditional love for others while inviting them to feel the love of God for themselves.

We believe that our commitment to God and the Church should be reflected in our daily lives. We seek to grow, therefore, as disciples.

We invite you to join us on our spiritual journey to be one with God, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world.
