Most gifts to the church come in some form of cash and are gifts to the General Operating Budget (“General Budget”) and can be conveyed to the church in a number of ways.

Checks – Please make checks payable to “Oak Ridge United Methodist Church” or “ORUMC”, and include a note in the memo section to the if you wish it to apply to something other than the General Budget, such as the Growing to Serve Campaign.  Checks should be placed in the collection plate, or mailed/delivered to the church office.  You may put your check in a giving envelope, either the personalized one mailed to your home or in a pew envelope if you choose.

Cash – Please use a giving envelope and place envelope in the collection plate.  Using the personalized envelope mailed to your home ensures proper credit to your giving history as well as to fund(s) you select (General Budget, Growing to Serve Campaign, etc.)  You may also use a pew envelope, writing your name on it and selecting the funds.

On-Line Gifts – You can make a gift to the General Budget, Improvement Fund or the Growing to Serve Campaign at any time on our secure giving site.  Go to the church website at www.oakridgeumc.org and select the “Give Now” link at the top of the page.  Select the relevant fund, such as “Growing to Serve Campaign”, from the list of funds available.

In all of these examples, if you don’t designate a specific fund the gift will be credited to the General Budget automatically.

Every giver is different.  Some people want to use an envelope each week. Some need a message from the church to encourage support.  Others prefer electronic giving.  There are some that choose to give online, yet benefit from the message that the offering envelope delivers.  Churches find that a periodic envelope mail program along with Online Giving is an effective combination to help generate needed support.  We strive to offer as many ways as possible to give for the convenience of our donors.

We’d like to encourage everyone to try online giving.  People who have used it so far are very pleased and it’s the most cost-effective way to give accurately and quickly.  Please check this website or contact the church office if you would like information on online giving or if you’d like to change your participation in the envelope program.  The office staff can both add people and take people off of the monthly envelope service.  We will also be providing more “how-to” information for online giving in the weeks to come.  Thank you for your ongoing support of the ministries of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church.
