au_tree2Africa University opened in March 1992 in Mutare, Zimbabwe as the first private, Pan-African international university. The pioneer group of 40 students came from a dozen Africa countries to pursue bachelor's degrees in theology, natural resources, and agriculture.  Current enrollment is 1400 students from 24 African countries, with additional degree programs offered in animal science; irrigation & water management; horticulture, crop science; education; humanities & social sciences; marketing; economics; business management; public sector management; accounting;  peace and governance.

Africa University is a United Methodist Church-related project and is being nurtured and funded by church members from all over the world. It is a consequence of the growth of United Methodism on the African continent and has its foundations in the history and legacy of the church.  The University welcomes persons regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, politics, gender, nationality or social background.

We support one student each year by providing a full scholarship covering tuition, room and board.  Current cost this year is $5400.

Ministry coordinators are Ed and Bev Wentz.
