Backpack Club

The Backpack Club Ministry operates every week throughout the school year. Food is purchased by the ministry team and stored at the church. Backpacks are packed by volunteers on Wednesdays beginning at 9:00 am. On the fourth Wednesday of each month, backpacks are packed at 6:00 pm, this way families, organizations athletic teams and bible study groups can participate. Full backpacks are then delivered to the schools by volunteers on Wednesday afternoons, or Thursday mornings, and empty ones retrieved from the schools on Tuesdays. Opportunities for service include: financial sponsorship, packing, delivering and retrieving the backpacks, providing holiday goodies, donating individual food items, school supplies and new backpacks, and sponsoring food drives in small groups or businesses. We welcome volunteers to help in any capacity they feel they can use their time, talents, or energy.

Each child in the program needs a financial sponsor. Sponsorships cost $375 per year, with different payment options available. This will provide the food for their backpack throughout the school year, a Birthday gift and card, snack-packs, and Holiday meals for the child’s entire family at Christmas and Easter. If you are interested in purchasing food items to donate, or wish to organize a food drive, please refer to the menu for items to purchase. Individual items can be dropped off in the collection area in the Education Bldg.
